Ramadan Campaign for Yemen
My name is Akram Abdallah and my wife and I are the Founders of Nominal. We are reaching out with an exciting opportunity to give back this Ramadan! We would love for you to be part of our Ramadan 2020 Campaign in support of food assistance for the people of Yemen.
With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading we recognize that this is a difficult time for all of us. As we grapple with the new challenges this pandemic has created, one thing is very clear: this pandemic will be catastrophic in areas where there is already an ongoing humanitarian crisis. Recently, the first case of COVID-19 was identified in Yemen, and as the pandemic begins to spread and cases increase, we know the impact will be devastating. Only 51% of health centers are fully functional. There is limited medicine, equipment and personal protection equipment available and only two testing sites (Sana’a and Aden). Furthermore, there is already immense food and water insecurity in the country with millions of people starving due to lack of access to food.
This campaign is critical now more than ever. The people of Yemen need the support from you because you will remind people that they still exist, and their well-being depends on people supporting and giving back what they can. Islamic Relief is on the ground responding to the identified gaps to support Yemen in responding and managing COVID-19. Ongoing activities include:
1) Establishing quarantine centers.
2) Distributing supplies and equipment to quarantine centers, such as beds, blankets, and food.
3) Distributing medical supplies to health facilities, including personal protective equipment.
4) Distributing hygiene kits and canned food to individuals within quarantine centers.
We are fundraising to support these efforts in addition to the typical food packages needed for families for Ramadan. The cost for one food package is only $50. We can feed a family in Yemen for a month for only $50.
Please donate what you can to help the people of Yemen and share this campaign with others. Jazak Allahu Khairan.
